work
4/7/21———There was nothing particularly special about today except for the fact that I was able to concentrate while working. During the pandemic it’s been very hard to focus. I have felt an overwhelming sense of not caring. Much of the time it feels like day to day experiences, including work, aren’t fulfilling. They can lack meaning, whether that it be devoid of true human emotion, missing a connection with another being, or simply being uninspired from the mundanity.
However, when you feel productive, you become present in the moment. Whether it be something you need to get done or want to get done, having the ability to focus on the task at hand is a very satisfying feeling. Too often I feel the desire to satisfy the many urges that are a click away.
A Youtube video, a story on a feed, but today felt like a day I needed to have. One where my focus lay with the task at hand. I used Focus45, a Google chrome extension to limit my distractions and I would recommend it to anyone with a short attention span. Thank you for reading and have a pleasant day.

I enjoy things that take time to get right.
There is a social stigma that our professional selves must be polished and presented as the epitome of all things great.
In reality, we hide our true selves. We may be unkempt, anxious, unbothered, irreverent, or mentally depleted. I for one, have moments of anxiety when translating my thoughts into speech.
It would all help if we slowed down
a little.
a little.
Content catered to the public is fast and perfect, when the world is far from it.We have to keep up the impression that everything we do and show is “amazing” or “awesome.” I think this leads to a lack of authenticity in both culture and ourselves. This isn’t a bio, it’s more of a rant, but if you would like to, I’d love to share a conversation with you. It’s something I’m working on.
Fact of the Day: The inventor of the surgical glove struggled with a cocaine and morphine addication for the majority of his adult life.
